Chapter 9: Cassell Agent, Chen Motong, Chu Zihang
Two days had passed since the Preparatory Class's Alchemy Teacher was attacked.
Xu Lie's life in the Preparatory Class remained unchanged; at most, the Alchemy class temporarily had a different teacher.
The Preparatory Class, or rather, the Hybrids teachers and students with dragon blood, from top to bottom, were filled with a reckless spirit.
There was no fear that the 'attacker' would return; everyone believed the opponent had merely launched a despicable sneak attack to injure the Alchemy Teacher.
They just needed to be more cautious, and the 'attacker' would no longer have a chance.
Xu Lie also noticed that every time school started and ended, there were many more teachers on campus, subtly escorting the students.
If the 'attacker' struck again, they might even fall into a trap set by the Hybrids teachers and students.
Xu Lie was content with this; the sooner life returned to normal, the sooner he could provide Alchemy books to his main body, preventing constant urging.
It gave him a headache.
“Hey, is that… the agent from the main campus? Even the Principal came out to greet them.”
“Look quickly, how impressive, such a sharp aura. I heard that after graduating from advanced studies at the main campus, you can join the Execution Department. Those people in black must be the Execution Agents, right?”
“That red-haired girl, is she an upperclassman? Why isn't she wearing a trench coat like the other agents?”
On the way to the library, students from the Preparatory Class, in twos and threes, couldn't help but notice the approaching figures in the distance and began to whisper.
No one whispered to the lonely Xu Lie, but fortunately, his hearing was sharp, allowing him to hear everyone's murmurs, and he looked over.
He saw the Principal of the Preparatory Class warmly shaking hands with a man in a black trench coat.
There were five agents from the main campus in total, generally young. The most mature one looked to be around twenty-four.
The two youngest looked to be the same age as the Preparatory Class students.
The most eye-catching, naturally, was the only red-haired girl, who, unlike the other four Execution Department agents who wore black trench coats even in hot weather, stood out.
She was dressed quite casually: a white sleeveless crop top paired with a light gray pleated skirt, the fair and agile legs beneath the hem revealing youthful vibrancy.
Over it, she wore a classic Louis Vuitton khaki mesh cardigan, bright but not vulgar, assertive but not unrestrained.
As she walked, her fiery red hair danced, occasionally revealing four-leaf clover earrings that were quite eye-catching.
A red-haired girl? Such a distinctive feature must belong to Chen Motong, one of the female leads in the original work.
It made sense. Chen Motong had a very high dragon blood lineage but no Kotodama, only a special ability called 'Profiling.'
She could arrive at a crime scene afterward and deduce key information about the incident, people involved, and so on, through profiling.
When Cassell assigned internship tasks to its students, it often considered the student's abilities and connections, as well as their familiarity with and understanding of local culture.
Chen Motong was originally from the Chen family in the Imperial Capital, making her a local expert, and profiling was suitable for investigations, so sending her was perfectly normal.
Xu Lie, who had guessed her identity, did not immediately look away. Instead, he tried to stay in sync with the surrounding students, continuously observing her with curious and longing eyes.
This was to avoid Chen Motong, a Hybrid with keen senses, noticing anything unusual.
Only when the Preparatory Class Principal invited the five agents to the crime scene and they were almost out of sight, did Xu Lie quietly turn and walk towards the library.
With Cassell agents already present, supported by the artificial intelligence Noma, sending text messages now might reveal clues.
To be safe, it would be most appropriate to mention that the agents had arrived when transmitting books via the sacrificial ritual to his main body.
Shifting focus, the agents from the main campus had arrived at the crime scene: a teacher's villa distributed by the school.
The entire exquisite small villa had been reduced to ruins, as if it had been struck head-on by a hundred-ton truck, shattered beyond recognition.
Only a floor covered in glass shards, furniture debris, and a large amount of broken beams and cracked reinforced concrete blocks remained.
The two surrounding villas, however, were completely unharmed, a stark contrast.
“Chen Motong.” The leading Execution Department agent coldly uttered his junior's name, signaling that she should use her profiling ability.
“I told you to call me Nono.” Chen Motong grumbled as she stepped forward. Her personality clashed terribly with such a rigid senior.
Chen Motong bent down to observe the ruins, examining them very carefully, walking from left to right, and then circling the small villa.
She showed no emotion on the surface, but in her mind, she was rapidly sketching the original state of the villa and simulating the specific events of the case.
The leading Execution Department agent did not disturb her, quietly calling out to another student interning there: “Chu Zihang, watch carefully, learn well.”
Compared to Chen Motong, who was only there for an internship and to experience the atmosphere, the agent captain preferred this stoic junior.
Such an excellent talent, it was clear at a glance, was destined to join their Execution Department after graduation, and needed much guidance.
Furthermore, Chu Zihang's academic mentor was Professor Von Schneider, their head of the Execution Department.
He absolutely needed extra care.
Although he had only been enrolled for a year, Chu Zihang had already begun to develop into a cold-faced killer, with a temperament similar to the agent captain, exuding a murderous aura.
Any timid ordinary person would probably not dare to meet Chu Zihang's gaze at this moment, fearing that if a word went wrong, Chu Zihang would draw his sword and attack.
Chu Zihang nodded with a very small movement, indicating understanding, and also observed the environment, pondering what kind of attack could cause such a result.
Explosives? No, there were no scorched marks at the scene; then a large truck? Even less likely, such a thing would be discovered immediately if it drove into the Preparatory Class campus.
“Phew!” Chen Motong wearily rubbed her temples: “I'm exhausted, but I can probably profile it.”
“According to Noma's records of the Preparatory Class Alchemy Teacher's personal habits and behavioral logs, he should have been conducting an Alchemy experiment in the villa at the time.”
“There were also no heavy drag marks from any high-power equipment, nor any traces of explosive residue.”
“This indicates that the attacker did not use modern technology or explosives, but instead, with their own strength alone, destroyed this house, attempting to bury the Alchemy Teacher.”
“I cannot discern the attacker's specific appearance; I can only vaguely sense a… ” Chen Motong gestured with her hand, placing it on her forehead and then moving it up a few inches: “I can vaguely see a shadow about 1.9 meters tall. Anything more specific, I cannot tell.”
Chu Zihang was secretly astonished. Without modern scientific methods, the culprit demolished this villa purely with their own strength?
The agent captain in charge of this investigation pulled out a tablet computer, clearly beyond current technology: “Noma, please retrieve the profiles of all Preparatory Class teachers and students around 1.9 meters tall.”
A soft female voice suddenly emanated from the tablet: “Data has been successfully retrieved.”
Even in the Preparatory Class, where everyone was a Hybrid, there were only a few teachers and students who reached 1.9 meters in height, so the filtering was quickly completed.
The agent captain continued to task Noma with investigating the campus life videos of these individuals over the past three months.
Finally, this was given to Chen Motong to further determine whose vague physique most closely matched the figure she had just profiled.
