Peninsula: I'M Really Just A Male Best Friend

Chapter 2: Only when you are hungry can you have time

“Uh... ah ah... ah ah ah...”

Yu Qianjue, who had slept soundly for a whole night, let out a raspy, boss-like sound.

He sat up and scratched his hair, which was starting to resemble a bird's nest. Yu Qianjue still hadn't opened his eyes.

Relying on memory, he grabbed his phone from beside his pillow with his eyes closed. When he slightly opened his eyes, the phone's blinding light delivered an uppercut to his eyes in the almost complete darkness.

“Ow, my god… this brightness…”

After a moment of adjustment, Yu Qianjue gradually got used to it and looked at his phone again.

It was 9:42 AM. His body clock was a bit out of whack. He remembered waking up at five every morning when he was on Longhu Mountain.

He had gotten quite lax since coming to the Peninsula two years ago… It seems he needed to get back into shape soon.

Yu Qianjue thought this, rubbing his still slightly dizzy head.

Yesterday, as soon as he got home, he showered and then fell into a deep sleep, so a lot of messages had piled up on his phone.

Most of them were from Nai Yongzhili and Ning Yizhuo, just casual daily chats.

“This is… Can-yong Ge’s message?”

He tapped the chat box. The friend, saved as Cui Canyong, had sent him a few messages in the early hours of the morning.

“Congratulations on winning the Tokyo station again. I watched the live broadcast on YouTube.”

“If you’re not busy these next few days, come to school. I and Jae-young and the others have something to discuss with you.”

He thought for a moment and realized there wasn't anything particularly pressing, and it was time to go back to school for classes anyway.

“No problem, I’ll be back at school for classes within this week.”

After replying to Cui Canyong’s message, and then to Nai Yongzhili and Ning Yizhuo’s messages, Yu Qianjue finally got out of bed and went into the bathroom to wash up.

At the SM Entertainment headquarters in Apgujeong, inside the practice room, Kim Minjeong was vigorously practicing dance moves, which left many of the trainees in a daze.

“Zhimin-xi, what’s wrong with Minjeong-xi today? She seems to be on fire?”

Trainee A asked Liu Zhimin this.

“Well, don’t worry about it. Min-jeong said that expending more energy makes food taste better later when we eat.”

Liu Zhimin saw Kim Minjeong’s intense expression and couldn't help but twitch her lips. After dismissing the other trainees with a flimsy excuse, she also sighed.

Last night, Min-jeong heard Ningning say that her brother would treat everyone to a month's worth of korean beef and wouldn't go broke, and she had been like this ever since.

According to Kim Minjeong, this was called “robbing the rich to share korean beef.”

She had also heard this from Ning Yizhuo, but Kim Minjeong had slightly modified it to better fit the current situation.

So today, she was going to practice hard so she could eat even more tonight!

Oh, my dear sister, you don’t know that Ningning’s Euni and I plan to go Dutch.

Practicing so intensely will not only bankrupt your Euni tonight but also lead to lactic acid buildup and muscle soreness… “Min-jeong, come and rest for a bit. Don’t overdo it.”

Ultimately, she stopped Kim Minjeong's overly enthusiastic behavior. Liu Zhimin walked up to Kim Minjeong with water.

“Euni, tell me, what kind of person do you think Ningning’s Euni is?”

Calming her breathing, Kim Minjeong leaned on Liu Zhimin’s shoulder, taking small sips of water.

Liu Zhimin wiped the sweat from Kim Minjeong’s forehead with a tissue while falling into the memories of last night.

“Ningning, will your Euni be easy to get along with?”

Liu Zhimin still felt that treating them to korean beef right away was a bit too extravagant.

She was genuinely worried that this silly sister (not derogatory) would make a grand promise to treat them to korean beef, only to embarrass her Euni in the end.

Surely, there wouldn't be a comic book scenario of washing dishes to pay off debt, right… Surely not?

And our little Maltese at this moment perked up her ears, pretending not to care as she listened to the not-quite-gossip.

Ning Yizhuo’s expression, for once, became a little serious. She stroked her chin, thinking carefully, but her expression gradually couldn't hold, becoming somewhat distorted.

“Ningning, if it’s difficult, you don’t have to say anything. We’ll meet tomorrow anyway, so we can talk then.”

Seeing Ning Yizhuo’s expression changing rapidly, clearly heading towards a comedic facial expression, Liu Zhimin thought it best to stop her quickly.

This child's expression was already developing into a character from a cartoon she watched when she was little, what was his name… Jounouchi?

“No, Zhimin Euni, it’s not that it’s difficult, it’s just that I can’t find the right words to describe him.”

She scratched her head, thinking about her older brother who, despite not seeing him often these past two years, still doted on her greatly.

Hiss, big brother, you are truly wicked. How am I supposed to describe you well?

“Uh, if I really had to say, he’s a very easygoing person. If I had to describe him in one sentence…”

“It’s probably, ‘He has a lot of bad jokes, but he’s surprisingly reliable, knows a lot, and is very good at taking care of people… a man… a woman.’”

“Mo? What does that last word mean?”

“Ah ah ah! Nothing, nothing! It just means he’s quite gentle!”

Ning Yizhuo quickly tried to cover for her older brother.

It’s all your fault, big brother! Who told you to look so much like a girl!

The memory ended. Liu Zhimin looked at the trainees practicing in small groups in front of her and said to Kim Minjeong, “According to Ningning’s description, he should be a very easygoing person. Didn’t she also say her Euni is very good at taking care of people?”

Anyway, they would see him soon. Then, the two of them would find out who this mysterious brother, who made Ning Yizhuo ponder so hard and finally squeeze out a few words, truly was!

“Time passes so slowly. I still want to eat, after all.” Kim Minjeong’s soft, somewhat dazed voice reached Ning Yizhuo’s ears.

“Don’t worry, Min-jeong Euni! Class will be over soon! Then I’ll have my brother bring some desserts first.”

Ning Yizhuo naturally sat beside Kim Minjeong. Hearing this, Kim Minjeong turned, moved away from Liu Zhimin, and hugged Ning Yizhuo.

“Indeed, our Ningning cares about me the most, boo hoo hoo.”

“Euni…”

“Ningning…”

“Euni!”

“Ningning!”

Seeing that the two were about to start their acting training, Liu Zhimin quickly intervened to stop them. Seriously! One moment of inattention and they start putting on a show anywhere! Act when you get back to the dorm tonight! I can't even join in out here!

“I’m going to buy some drinks. Do you want anything?”

“Iced Americano!”

“Orange juice!”

Hearing her sisters’ orders, Youzi the delivery person walked out of the practice room.

Maybe I should go to the cafe and slack off for a bit, then have Min-jeong and Ningning come find me at the cafe after class.

Thinking this, Liu Zhimin quickly submitted her resignation from her delivery person career, deciding to become a slacker.
